MY WRISTS ARE BACK TO NORMAL

Two years ago, I gave birth to my first child. Shortly after, about two and a half months later, I developed pain in my wrists. The pain grew progressively worse each day. It made sleeping at night very difficult. I was unable to do simple tasks that required any twisting motion such as opening doors, jars and bottles, to name a few. In addition, I was also unable to do tasks that required any grabbing motion such as laundry, washing dishes, changing bed sheets, chopping and lifting any object, heavy or light, and writing for starters.

Even nursing my little infant at that time was impossible. I had to set her down on a pillow right in front of me because I was unable to cradle her. As she grew heavier, when needed to be held or lifted, I would do so by stretching my arms straightforward like a forklift. As a side note, my daughter has always been in the 5^th-10^th percentile in her weight, which means she was not heavy at all.

I could not wear a watch around my wrists nor fold my thumbs down with my four fingers. Working out at the gym was simply excruciating. My hands bent outwards when I held them in front of me.

I sought treatment from medical doctors. I was prescribed numerous pain and anti-inflammatory medications, which bothered my stomach. Eight months later, I received cortisone shots on my wrists. That same doctor advised me that I could return for a second set of shots if the first one did not bring results. He also informed me that if this treatment fails, then a simple surgery would be performed by cutting wristbands that held my swelling tendons. I refused to go this far.

After a year and a half of failed treatments, I decided to seek acupuncture for treatment. I was given herbal pills to take before and during the treatment. Immediately after every treatment, I experienced increased tenderness and slightly more pain for about a day and a half. Two months later, I felt no pain and my wrist mobilization was back to 100% usage.

Most of all, Mr. Kevin and Dr. Janet were most helpful. They took the time to explain treatment, results, and care for my wrists in great detail. Their warm and kind interactions made me, a medical accustomed patient, comfortable in the experience of this new treatment. They regularly checked in during treatment, and phoned me at home to check my progress, something that the medical staff does not provide. Thanks to God first and the diligent work of Dr. Huang and Dr. Yeh, my wrists are back to normal.
